FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
› WHY HAVEN'T I HEARD OF RAVELCO?
The manufacturer and inventor, based in Texas, does not advertise. Ravelco has been a success for 30 years on the strength of the product, the articles written about it, news reports, and the word of mouth from our customers. › WHY WOULD I NEED A RAVELCO IF I HAVE A FACTORY ALARM?
Most people think the sounds of car alarms are false alarms, because most of the time, they are. However dealer alarms are set for massive costs not protection. One way you can check your dealer alarm is roll the window down, lock it, reach in from outside and open the door. Most factory alarms are not set off by this. Ford and Dodge are the top vehicle thefts in U.S. Ford taking 10 seconds to open and start by a thief have not changed their lock systems since 1999.
› THE CAR DEALER TOLD ME MY VEHICLE ALREADY HAS A FACTORY ANTI-THEFT DEVICE BUILT IN THE IGNITION KEY. IS THIS ENOUGH TO PREVENT MY CAR FROM BEING STOLEN?
Transponder anti-theft systems are installed on almost all new General Motors, Ford, Chrysler and Toyota vehicles. They feature a chip embedded in the ignition key, which emits a signal to the vehicle's computer system in the steering column to identify the ignition key and allow the vehicle to start. These systems are bypassed by modules available via the internet for $25.00 and up.
› MY CAR SALESMAN SAID IF I INSTALLED ANY AFTERMARKET EQUIPMENT ON MY VEHICLE OTHER THAN THE FACTORY EQUIPMENT, IT WILL VOID MY WARRANTY.
Not true. A Federal Law (Magnuson - Moss Act) protects you against car dealers voiding your warranty.
Some car dealers will tell you that aftermarket equipment will void your warranty in order to convince you to buy products they profit from selling. It is against the law for dealers to void your new car warranty for installing aftermarket equipment.
